I just arrived in Mumbai, India and wanted to publish a short post on the movie I saw during the flight over: Stardust. What a wonderful, uplifting, and heart warming movie! This is perhaps the best movie of its kind since The Princess Bride, which is one of my all time favorite movies. I will definitely be adding both of these movies to my recommended list!
One of the advantages of flying to India is it was very easy to stick with my Lense commitments. India has many vegetarians, and as a consequence the airline offered a vegetarian alternative for every meal – thus making it easy for me to honor my commitment of foregoing meat without starving myself (I will have enough of that when I undertake my fasts!)
In addition, since I flew Continental from New York I was not tempted to indulge in wine. Continental charges $5.00 for a small (airline sized) bottle of wine – even on their international flights – and I have a natural aversion to spending that amount on a tiny bottle of wine when I can buy a full sized bottle of very good wine for $8.00 or $9.00 at home. Although I did not commit to forgoing wine for Lense thus far I have not indulged in this – which makes it tempting for me to add to my list. For the time being I will just wait and see.
I am staying at the Hyatt Regency in Mumbai on the Regency Club floor, which offers complimentary wine and cocktails each afternoon. This may prove too much of a temptation to resist and I don\’t want to set myself up for failure like I did for Superbowl Sunday by claiming that it will not be a problem to abstain from wine during this stay, much less the entire Lense period. So for now I will trust my instincts and simple wait and see – or as one my Spirit Guides once told me: simply abide.
