MS150 Bike Ride

I completed the BP MS150 cycling event this past weekend.  The weather on Sunday was absolutely gorgeous the entire day – sunny and dry with temperature’s in the 70′s and a cooling breeze from the northwest.  This was a most welcome change given that the first day of this event (Saturday) was cancelled due to heavy rains which flooded parts of the route as well as the campgrounds in La Grange that had been built to house the 13,000 bike riders that registered for the event.  In the end over 10,000 riders drove themselves (and their bikes) to La Grange to participate in the second day of the event and complete the course.

I truly appreciate the generosity of everyone that supported me on this ride by donating to the MS Society and want to extend my thanks to everyone for their willingness to donate their time and money to this cause.  The completion of this ride marks a major transition for me, as over these next two weeks my intent is to cut back on my incessant “doing” and focus my free time and energy on two other crucial aspects of my life – connecting and being.

BP MS 150

This weekend I will be riding in the 2009 BP MS 150, a two-day charity cycling event from Houston to Austin.  The BP MS 150 is organized by the National Multiple Sclerosis foundation, and is the largest non-profit cycling event of its kind in North America with 13,000 cyclists, 3,000 volunteers and countless supporters and spectators. This is my first time to participate but I understand that they’re great fun and the funds they raise go toward research aimed at treating and eventually curing MS. They also provide education, information, direct financial aid and scholarships to individuals and families living with MS.
